Booking Policies
This page explains the main commercial process in plain language. The complete terms displayed during checkout govern each booking.
1. Player Account and eligibility
- A verified SOFF Player Account is required to play.
- Account and cricket information must be accurate and current.
- A booking may be reviewed for level suitability and safety.
- SOFF may recommend another fixture or decline an unsuitable placement.
- A place cannot normally be transferred to another person without written approval.
2. Payment
- The full match price is normally paid in advance.
- The published fixture page states the price and known inclusions.
- Optional services are charged separately unless expressly included.
- A payment receipt is not the same as a match confirmation when the fixture remains Open for Booking.
3. Fixture status
| Status | Short label | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Open for Booking | Proposed—not yet confirmed | Paid bookings are being accepted. Wait for SOFF’s confirmation before relying on this match. |
| Confirmed | Match confirmed | The fixture has passed SOFF’s participation and operational checks. |
| Guaranteed | SOFF-guaranteed | SOFF intends to stage the game without requiring more customer bookings, subject to exceptional circumstances. |
| Full | Join waiting list | Normal playing capacity has been reached. |
| Changed | Review update | One or more material details have changed. |
| Cancelled | Match cancelled | The fixture will not proceed. Check your email or account for available remedies. |
4. Confirmation threshold
The initial standard threshold is 8 paid overseas players. The threshold displayed on the individual fixture page controls that fixture.
Reaching the number triggers SOFF’s final review; it is not an automatic promise. SOFF also reviews the player mix, level suitability, ground, opposition, officials, operations and financial position.
5. Team selection and overseas opposition places
- SOFF balances teams using available player information.
- A customer may be placed in the SOFF side or the opposing side where disclosed and suitable.
- Some matches may accommodate up to 4 overseas customers in the opposition.
- Team placement does not change the person’s status as a SOFF customer.
- No batting position, bowling allocation or result is guaranteed.
6. Player cancellation or change request
The checkout page states:
- whether a cooling-off period applies;
- whether cancellation is refundable before match confirmation;
- whether confirmed-match bookings may be transferred or credited;
- deadlines and administrative charges; and
- how illness, injury or travel disruption is treated.
7. SOFF cancellation before confirmation
If SOFF does not confirm an open fixture by the stated deadline, the customer receives the options specified at checkout. These may include a refund, transfer to another suitable fixture, or account credit if the player freely chooses it.
An unconfirmed or SOFF-cancelled fixture does not consume an otherwise valid first-match newsletter benefit.
8. Changes after confirmation
SOFF may sometimes need to change the ground, reporting or start time, opposition or team composition, format or number of overs, officials, or another operational arrangement. The terms distinguish a minor operational change from a material change and explain the remedies for each.
9. Weather and ground conditions
Cricket is weather-dependent. SOFF, ground authorities and match officials may delay, shorten, relocate, modify or abandon play where conditions are unsafe or impractical. The applicable refund, credit or rescheduling treatment is stated before payment.
10. Conduct
Discrimination, harassment, abuse, violence, deliberate dangerous play, serious intoxication, corruption-related conduct and disregard of officials or safety instructions are not acceptable. SOFF may remove a participant where reasonably necessary to protect the match and others.
11. Health, fitness and insurance
Players are responsible for judging their fitness to participate, disclosing relevant issues and obtaining suitable travel and medical insurance. Emergency assistance may incur third-party costs.
12. Travel and visas
Every player remains responsible for travel documents, visas, immigration compliance, arrival in Sri Lanka and arrival at the match venue unless a separately confirmed service says otherwise.
13. Photography and video
The fixture page or briefing states whether photography or recording is planned and how consent, opt-out requests, children and commercial use are handled.
14. Privacy
SOFF collects only information reasonably required for accounts, matching, safety, bookings, payments, services and communication. Access is limited appropriately, and retention periods are defined in the Privacy Notice.
15. Complaints
Players have a clear contact method and a reasonable period for raising a booking, safety, conduct or service concern. SOFF acknowledges, investigates and responds consistently. Write to cricket@soffcricket.com.
